This year the international performance and Live Art festival New Performance Turku Festival provides an opportunity for a group of writers to publish their experiences and analyses of performances seen at the festival. The writers have free hands in the project, so far we know that besides text there will be at least photographs, video material and site-specific writing projects to come. There may also be more artistic pieces that comment or draw their inspiration from the works seen at the festival.
The blog writers are Hanna Dufva, Annika Dahlsten, Heidi B., Sinituuli Viljanen, Hanna Seppänen, Turun Fiktiiviset Tietokirjoittajat -group, Jani Petteri Virta, Heidi Pitkänen and David Frankovich. More information about them here (in Finnish)
There is also a group of students from the Live Art and Performance Studies programme at the University of Helsinki. They are Jolijn de Wolf, Brinda Antonin, Harriet von Froreich, Jenny Suhonen, Petros Konnaris and Jay Mar Albaos. More information about them here. The LAPS programme students will also open the discussions at the Afterwork Discussion events during the festival
Furthering and raising discussion about performance and Live Art is one of New Performance Turku Festival’s goals. With this project the festival wants to provide a platform for different outcomes and perspectives both on works seen at the festival and on performance and Live Art in a wider context.
