Functional sculpture performance and interactive artifacts and self-presentation.
Videokaffe is a collective of artists and craftsmen exploring and engaging the shared beauty of art and technology in the quotidian and the bizarre. Interested in the phenomenon of living, their work builds and reimagines our encounters in the world through household and recycled materials combined with cutting edge technology creating new media art sculptures and site-specific installations.
Through collaborations Videokaffe destabilize traditional group arrangements to resist automatic approaches, techniques and processes. Work periods engage unique sites throughout production and exhibition by occupying galleries and residencies for intensive work periods through interactive and educational build-ups, workshops and on-site performances.
“We are MSL (Antti Jussila and Jari Kallio), performance duo working in multidisciplinary ways. We strive to aesthetic.”
Venla Luoma and Armas Suomi
The performance makes a literal interpretation of the Opening. At the same time it is a little ode to a new friendship – an ode to a beginning, to an end, to a beginning…
Venla Luoma (b.1980) has researched performance art in London, in school and as a member of performance art collective Present Attempt. Since moving to Finland she has mainly worked in the field of participatory art researching the concept of ”becoming space” as a frame for community-based activity.
Venla Luoma met her work pair Armas Suomi at the Salo Railway Station in 2012.
Before retiring Armas Suomi (b. 1927) was a man of six positions and five hungers. He has worked, among others, as a farmer and in quarrying. His endless curiosity drove him to the stage, suited up, facing something new.
Maija Reeta Raumanni
Movement and variations on bones and flowers
Maija Reeta Raumanni (b. 1979) is a choreographer, dancer and performer working in the fields of new dance and live art. She currently lives and works in Turku, Finland.
to stay. Sense of something beginning, always the same, always another.
“I was born in Salla in 1984. After that my attempts to live and understand life have led me from Hartola to Orivesi and finally to Turku – and to the seemingly not commensurate worlds of poetry, visual arts, performance art, culture studies and body therapy.”
