Floating Platforms at New Performance Turku Festival
|
At New Performance Turku Festival there will be three performances from the Floating Platforms project, a collaboration between the festival and Aboagora-symposium. The first three performances of the project took place as a part of Aboagora Symposium 11th to 13th of August. In the weeks preceding New Performance Turku Festival the collaborating reasearchers and performance artists of this second part of the project will start their work in residencies. They will explore their own and each others ways of thinking and working and they address the questions related to dialogue between performance art and science, and humanities. The residency period results in works presented at the New Performance Turku Festival. During the residency period there will be new and updates about the pairs’ processes at the blog on Floating Platforms website. You can also follow New Performance Turku Festival on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for more information. The collaborating pairs at New Performance Turku Festival are Assyriologist and postdoctoral researcher Saana Svärd (University of Helsinki) and Lynn Lu, visual and performance artist from Singapore. → Mikko Sams (Aalto University), professor of cognitive neuroscience, will work together with British artist Joshua Sofaer to investigate the neurology of aesthetics. → And Eeva Puumala, PhD and researcher in international politics (University of Tampere) will be working together with the Portuguese performance artist Márcio Carvalho. → The Floating Platforms performances take place as a part of New Performance Turku Festival’s programme. As with other performances at the festival there will also be an open afterwork discussion about the Floating Platforms performances.
